Home Deliveries, Childcare for Key Workers & Colleague Protection
Thank you
We know that you are doing an incredible job, going above and beyond to help our members, customers and fellow colleagues, whilst adapting to this ever-changing and challenging time. We continue to be really grateful for all you’re doing, thank you.
Help spread the word about home delivery and childcare for key workers
Home delivery - Helping our vulnerable customers to stay safe
We are supporting our most vulnerable customers who are self-isolating by getting basic, essential food delivered to their doors. It’s a partnership between our food stores and local community volunteers who are making deliveries for us. Home delivery isn’t part of our normal service so colleagues across the Society have pulled together to make this happen. A huge thank you to all of you who have played a part.
We need your help to spread the message further to the people who need our support. Please can you take a minute to share our social media posts. We are particularly keen to share it with local community groups on Facebook who will already be in touch with vulnerable customers.
Please access and share the posts here on Facebook and Twitter
Finally, we still need more community groups who can offer us volunteers and vehicles to deliver orders. If you know any you think might be able to help, ask them to contact the Midcounties Membership Team on 0800 435 902.
Since this activity launched, we have completed over 1,500 deliveries working with the local community in a truly co-operative way, just like our team at Cinderford, well done all.
Childcare spaces available for critical key workers, help us let them know.
Co-op Childcare has a number of spaces available for key workers at some of their nurseries, we are asking everyone including regional community partners, members, partner schools, community groups, unions etc. to share our message and let key workers know we are here for them and we need your help too.
We have spaces available now in some of our nurseries for 6 months to 8-year-olds.
If you know anyone that might need childcare, please direct them to our Childcare website here for more details and share the Facebook post, which you can access the here.
Colleague Protection:
Our priority is and will remain the protection and welfare of colleagues and we are doing everything we can to ensure we continue to have appropriate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for colleagues who need them. We have many supplies that have now been delivered to sites, with stock of hand sanitiser, gloves and face masks arriving daily and more stock being procured.
The roll out of protective screens continues across all stores.
Social distancing:
This is one of the most important areas for all of us. We have given guidance to each trading site on this already and many measures have now been taken and implemented. PoS is in place across all sites and further stock of Social distancing PoS is arriving in Food stores this week to help our customers adhere to the guidance.
Social distancing measures in place are:
Limiting the number of customers at any one time in food depending upon the size of the store and taking similar measures in funeral and pharmacy branches.
Displaying point of sale to encourage customers to keep their distance in queues or walking around stores.
Driving telephone contact rather than face-to-face across our Travel and Funeral groups.
Actioned temporary closures for a limited time during the day in Pharmacy and some food sites to enable shelf-filling and cleaning whilst maintaining distance.
Fast Track Recruitment
We have had a great response to the fast track recruitment with a further 130 colleagues set to join our teams and we are continuing to ramp this up with additional activity on social media. A thank you to our mystery model for showcasing the t-shirts that are also in-store for our new colleagues to wear.
We want to ensure we are doing everything we can to help you at this time, and if you have any further ideas or comments then please, let us know using the comments section below or via your line manager. Thank you again for all YOUR efforts, it is appreciated.
