The Society is committed to being an employer of choice. As such, we hope that existing colleagues would recommend us as an employer to their friends. This scheme provides the framework and processes for those recommending their friends for vacancies within the Society.
This policy does not form part of any contract of employment and the Society may amend it at any time
Equal Opportunity Statement
The Society is committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment. Any job applicants will receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. At all times this scheme will be managed in a way that is consistent with the Society’s values. Selection for employment will be on the basis of aptitude and ability and in accordance with the Society’s Recruitment Policy.
Process for Colleagues
This scheme applies to all colleagues; full-time and part-time and whether on a permanent or fixed-term contract. Subject to meeting the scheme requirements, all of the Society’s colleagues are eligible for payments in accordance with this scheme with the exception of members of the Executive Team.
All current vacancies within the Society are available on the Midcounties Careers website. If you become aware of a vacancy in any of the Society’s groups that you think would be suitable for a friend, you should make them aware. Your friend can view the vacancy on Midcounties Careers and apply if they wish. When completing the application, your friend should complete the section confirming that you have referred them for the vacancy. Your friend should input your name and colleague number. If that section of the online application is not completed, you will not be eligible for a refer a friend payment.
Where you are eligible for a payment, the amounts and timing of payment are detailed later in this scheme. Any payments made in accordance with this scheme are subject to tax and national insurance deductions in the usual way.
Rules of the Scheme
Eligibility for a payment in accordance with this scheme is subject to the following rules.
-
In order for you to qualify for the first payment, the referred friend must still be in employment at 13 weeks from their start date. This payment can be withheld if you or the referred colleague are subject to a pending misconduct investigation, disciplinary or performance hearing.
-
In order for you to qualify for the second payment, the referred friend must still be in employment at 52 weeks from their start date. This payment can be withheld if you or the referred colleague are subject to a pending misconduct investigation, disciplinary or performance hearing.
-
If you or the referred colleague leaves for any reason before the payment is due, or either colleague is working their notice period (for whatever reason), then no payment will be made.
-
The referral scheme does not apply to referrals of friends who previously worked for the Society within the period of six months before the current vacancy start date.
-
This is a non-contractual policy and the Society reserves its right to withhold any payment where, at its sole discretion, the Society considers it appropriate.
