It’s that time of the year and to celebrate all the great things we have done with our Regional Communities over the past year, read our 12 Days of Christmas! These range from different charities to school partnerships and highlights each day how important our donations, work and volunteering is to these partners.
For the fourth day of our countdown to Christmas, we are showcasing Codsall Village Hall who is South Staffs Village Regional Community charity partner…
What do you do?
Codsall Village Hall, 55 years old, has one raison d’etre, to provide a space to hire. From Art to Whist, Baby Sensory to Yoga, including cricket, drama, gardening and history, it provides a much-loved home for 20 groups. They are included in the 40,000 per year people who use the facilities.
Where are you based?
Codsall, Wolverhampton
What impact has your partnership with Midcounties had?
The best part of having the extra funding of £10,000 from various events has been to allow CVH to carry out improvements which were not essential maintenance or repairs and to lift the burden of worry and work involved in raising extra monies outside of hire charges.
Before and after toilet refurbishments
Thus we have had the pleasure of choosing and purchasing seven pairs of curtains for the Lounge, which complemented the re-boarded ceiling, improving the insulation and the overall decoration.
The Pavilion, extended in 2008, had had virtually no attention from that time.
Midcounties funding gave it a complete refurbishment, with insulation, extra radiators, a new carpet and redecoration. Compliments have followed, not only from Codsall Cricket Club but from other hirers, regular (like artists) and various committees.
Main hall refurbishment before and after
Midcounties support topped up the pot of money already raised for the gents toilets, and allowed them to be finished to a better standard than the ladies!
We shall not forget the extraordinary Celebrity Football Matches, the Quiz Nights and the formal events held at Chateau Impney and Stone Manor, as well as contributions to our own fundraising, like the Food Festival and the Wellbeing Day.
What are your plans for the future?
Although our official funding period has ended, we still have other projects in mind, mainly redecoration, which could involve volunteers.
We would like to record our gratitude to all the individuals involved and the organisation as a whole.
How can colleagues get involved?
