Colleagues will have seen the devastating impact of the unprecedented bushfires which are raging in Australia with homes destroyed, communities devastated and lives tragically lost.
Co-ops UK, the trade body representing all co-ops, have been in contact with a sister organisation in Australia and have decided to partner an appeal being made by the Australian co-operative sector in response to the bushfires.
Commenting Ed Mayo, Secretary General, Co-ops UK, said "It's tough to imagine just how distressing this period is for many people in Australia. Going forward it will be hard for those affected to rebuild their lives and their homes. We hope, by standing together with the Australian co-op sector, we can help play a role in supporting relief efforts and future reconstruction."
To do this Co-ops UK has partnered the Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF) Bushfire Appeal.
More details on the background to the appeal can be found by clicking the link below:
All co-ops are being encouraged to donate in solidarity and Midcounties is keen to do its part, no matter how much you can afford, every penny counts for this worthy appeal.
