Hi, I’m Julian Wilkins and I am part of the EmbRACE group. For this final element of Black History Month, I would like to share with you my experience over the last year within the Society and the current goals for the EmbRACE group.
Before I get started, I would like to point out that joining the EmbRACE group was very important to me, as there has been a distinct lack of positive black role models in the education system and I wanted to do something to challenge that. I feel we have the ability now to make things better. Something I felt strongly about, and I am glad that Your Co-op has been able to provide a platform of support.
The EmbRACE group has lots of goals to make our Society, and the world a better place, so I'm proud to be part of that vision for the future. For example, over the next 5 years, we have a top-line objective of increasing diversity within the society from 10% to 16%. The team have been involved in reverse mentoring conversations with the Executive team to ensure our goals run right the way through the Society and so that our reach meets all our trading areas.
As you can see, we have a lot to get our teeth into. That’s why it would be great to get more help.
Do you want to get involved in our society’s goals to make the world a better, fairer place?
If so, and the EmbRACE group sounds like something that you want to be a part of, we would love for you to reach out to the team and become part of something special. All are welcome, and it’s only when we work together, that we can piece together our world. Contact us here.
