It's time to talk about personal development and career goals
Following on from the launch of our Career Framework you may recall we are also developing our Career Roadmap which will enable you to easily navigate through the different business areas to see what career path options you have. This can be either where you currently work or elsewhere in the Society, along with the development opportunities that are available to make that next step.
We will be launching the roadmap in our "Learning at Work Week" which is coming up in early October, along with a Conversation starter toolkit to support managers to have really great conversations about your development and career goals.
So, what makes a great development and career conversation?
Development conversations are all about helping you improve at what you currently do, so these conversations are a great opportunity to think about what gaps in skills, knowledge or behaviours you are looking to develop to help you perform at your best.
Often these conversations can include your career goals and shift your focus to what development is required to progress to future roles.
Either way starting with a goal in mind is a great first step, so you can identify what will help you achieve it.
Here are some ideas to get your development plans started…
-
Start with the Career Framework Guide as it is a really useful way to understand what is expected of you at your current or future level to identify gaps in knowledge, skills or behaviour. See here to read more.
