We are proud to announce that as of 2nd October, seven Carrick Travel branches have joined Co-operative Travel helping to expand our Society’s portfolio of Co-operative Travel branches to 78.
Carrick Travel, who is an award-winning, independent travel agency (eight-time winner of Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Award for Central England), have supported 10,000 customers with their travel arrangements over a busy 12 months. Founded in 1974 with 11 branches across Warwickshire, Worcestershire, West & East Midlands as well as the Cotswolds, they will remain trading under the Carrick Travel brand as part of the Co-operative Travel family and complement Co-operative Travel’s existing trading areas.
The addition will welcome 29 colleagues to our travel family and follows on from the agreement we had with Central England Co-operative for its 16 high street branches earlier in the summer. Taking our total of travel outlets to 78, the new branches will complement and strengthen our existing trading areas.
As Phil discusses in his open welcome letter here, these have been extraordinary times for the whole travel sector and the move will help to further increase our offering as the UK's leading co-operative travel group.
The seven branches transferring to our society are based in Kenilworth (Warwickshire), Stratford Upon Avon (Warwickshire), Leamington Spa (Warwickshire), Cheylesmore (West Midlands), Pershore (Worcestershire), Grantham (Lincolnshire) and Newark (Nottinghamshire). They will help to increase our Travel offering across Central England and the West.
Rad Sofronijevic our Chief Operating Officer of Co-operative Travel mentioned,
“Despite the challenges of Covid-19, Travel remains core to the Midcounties’ long-term strategy. The transfer of Carrick Travel gives us the opportunity to grow the Co-operative Travel operations for the benefit of our members, with shops that are located in the heart of their communities and to serve an additional customer base that complements our own. We look forward to nurturing and supporting the former Carrick Travel branches and their staff. Their welcome addition will strengthen the position of Midcounties Co-operative’s Travel division for the future.”
We give a warm welcome to our new Carrick Travel colleagues and look forward to them becoming part the Co-operative Travel & Midcounties family.
