To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Claire McCarthy, Development Partner – Careers and Talent, shines a spotlight on our successful LEAP programme and the remarkable apprentices driving its success.
Did you know we have over 130 colleagues enrolled in our LEAP apprenticeship programme? That’s the highest number we’ve ever had at one time!
Over the past year, more than 30 colleagues have graduated from the LEAP apprenticeship programme. If you weren’t aware, these structured training programmes run for 14 months to three years, alongside our colleagues’ usual day-to-day roles.
The programmes span our entire Society, including Co-op Food, Co-op Little Pioneers Childcare, Co-op Travel, Co-op Energy, and Co-op Broadband and Mobile businesses, as well as head office teams in finance, HR, and analytics.
For example, our Co-op Little Pioneers childcare business has supported unqualified colleagues in becoming Level 3 qualified practitioners which enables them to progress into leadership roles. Similarly, Co-op Food colleagues have advanced to store manager positions after completing leadership qualifications.
Last year's graduates. This year's graduates will be celebrated at the Remarkable Colleagues Awards on 20th February
With a strong commitment to apprenticeships, we believe in doing good together to make a collective difference—helping to strengthen our Society while creating opportunities for talented individuals to build meaningful, rewarding careers.
Now, let’s hear from Claire McCarthy, Development Partner – Careers and Talent, as she shares why our remarkable colleagues chose to complete an apprenticeship and how it has helped them grow and do their best work!
