With Food Poverty increasing and many parents & families’ dependent on food banks and other resources to put food on the table, we are proud to have again supported the holiday activities and food programme (HAF) over the festive period. In total, Midcounties helped deliver 15,000 meals in just 5 days directly to families in need!
Churchstoke Food Store in Shropshire has once again been working with Shropshire, Walsall & Dudley Councils to provide recipes and ingredients for meals over the Christmas period to underprivileged children.
Having worked with these councils throughout the year to provide over 35,000 meals, the call came into Midcounties again for support over the festive period.
With support from Warwick and Lea Green Depot, the Churchstoke team headed up by Tash Eaton, Team Leader, began collating all 15,000 Christmas meals in October. This took place in the warehouse taking up over 2500 sq ft of space!
All 15,000 meals were then delivered direct to the families addresses, taking a team of 14 drivers from Churchstoke, supported by drivers from Supermarkets, Food Markets, Convenience Stores and Warwick Support Centre.
The mammoth task was completed on time by Tuesday 21st December, with many positive comments appearing on council social media, websites and local media.
“Matt Windridge and I would like to congratulate all who were involved in delivering over 15,000 meals in 5 days direct to families, what an achievement....personally I feel very proud and humbled by what was achieved by everyone involved in Midcounties.” Peter Leach, Store Manager, Churchstoke

What does the future hold?
The success of the project has already led to Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds Councils contacting Midcounties regarding support for their families in 2022. Meetings with all of them are now booked, so watch this space...
