With the recent awareness of Bowel Cancer and knowing the symptoms, we’ve listened to our members and customers to join Bowel Cancer UK’s campaign ‘Get on a roll’ to help save lives. Read on to learn more and understand the signs earlier.
Get on a roll – know the symptoms
Our members asked us to do more about raising awareness of Bowel Cancer symptoms, so we listened and our Group CEO, Phil Ponsonby, raised this important subject with the Co-op Group team adding to the call to do more.
The team at Co-op Group responsible for own-brand packaging have been working to incorporate the symptoms on relevant product packaging. So we’re really happy to announce that from this Autumn, we will be including symptoms of Bowel Cancer on selected own-brand Co-op toilet roll packaging.
Hitting shelves soon, it will be the first toilet roll pack to include potentially life-saving information, where there will be a handy QR code on the pack for members to find out more about the signs and symptoms to look out for.
Help beat Bowel Cancer – the symptoms
Bowel cancer is the UK's fourth most common cancer and the second biggest cancer killer. Yet almost half of adults around the UK couldn't name a single symptom of bowel cancer in a recent survey. Red flag symptoms include changes in bowel habit, bleeding from your bottom and blood in your poo, which can all be noticed while people are on the toilet.
Knowing the symptoms to look out for, and acting on them by visiting a GP, can lead to bowel cancer being diagnosed at an earlier stage when it is easier to treat and even cure.
