Jubilee Celebrations

Last week I mentioned that our Jubilee Grant fund received over 120 applications and we have now distributed over £18,500 in Your Co-op Vouchers. These vouchers will enable groups to provide refreshments for localised activities such as cultural events, street parties, picnics and community celebrations in support of the nationwide Jubilee celebrations this week.

On Wednesday I attended one of the Jubilee parties we supported in our Wyre Forest Regional Community, which was organised by our charity partner, Home Start Wyre Forest. Home-Start Wyre Forest is a Family Support Organisation delivering friendship and support to parents with young children in the Wyre Forest district.

The event took place at Stourport Sports club where families were invited to get involved in a day full of fun activities, music sessions, therapy animals and lots more!

It was wonderful to see families from the local community having fun and coming together to celebrate the Jubilee, and how our support can make such a difference to people's lives.

Fair Tax Accreditation

I'm delighted to announce that in 2022 we were once again awarded the Fair Tax Mark, recognition of our commitment to transparency over tax disclosures and paying the right amount of tax.

As a values-led and ethical organisation, we believe that we should pay the taxes that are due and not engage in aggressive tax avoidance schemes, even if legal.

In 2014, we were amongst a handful of pioneers to secure a Fair Tax Mark, which certifies that we “pay the right amount of tax in the right place at the right time.” Our tax disclosures are reviewed every two years, since our first accreditation in 2014, we have been re-certified every time.

Jubilee Colleague Prize Draw

Don't forget to keep an eye out on Colleagues Connect this week, with the Jubilee Prize draw coming to an end on Sunday. Each colleague has been automatically placed into a prize draw to win a range of royal prizes in celebration of the jubilee. All you have to do is check back each day to see if you are a lucky winner. I hear the grand prize on Sunday is a 3-night Queen Mary 2 short Cruise – good luck!

Long Service Award

Finally, I want to congratulate Angela Walton, from our Wombourne Petrol Station, who on Wednesday celebrated a 35 year's service at Midcounties! As I was at the Jubilee event, unfortunately I couldn't be there to hand Angela her award in person. However, I did send her a video message, which you can watch below...
