With the new Society year upon us, we can announce the launch of our 2023/24 Steering Wheel. Read our story today on how our colleagues make a difference and hear from Julie Sheldon, Head of Energy Efficiency on saving energy wherever you may be.
As a co-operative we believe there is more to being a successful business than just profits. So, as well as measuring our financial performance we use our Steering Wheel to measure our performance in the key areas of co-operation, people, customers and delivery.
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Society’s 2023/24 Steering Wheel, enabling us to measure both our financial and non-financial performance.
So, how does this affect me?
All our Trading Groups, Support Services groups and sites have their own Steering Wheel targets. Therefore, as a colleague, you can play a part in helping us achieve our targets, and make a real difference against our co-operative aims.
New Measures this year
This year we have some new exciting targets alongside the established ones, ensuring that we are continuously evolving our Steering Wheel to drive behaviours.
New measures this year are as follows;

Member recruitment: Measuring the number of new members that join our Society, helping us continue to grow our membership.

Colleague engagement: Measuring the overall colleague satisfaction rate as measured through our Pulse Survey.

Saving Energy: Measuring our reduction in energy usage across like for like sites in kwh, helping ensure that we continue to drive down our energy usage.

Banking covenants: In order to continue to grow our business we have agreements in place with our banking partners to enable access to the finance we require as a business. We have launched a new financial target this year focused on ensuring that profit to debt ratio is kept within the range that we have agreed with our banking partners.
