This Purple Tuesday, we’re proud to recognise the steps we’re taking as an organisation to make our workplace and candidate experience more inclusive for everyone.
Earlier this year, we launched our very first Neurodiversity eLearning module, available to all colleagues. This course serves as an introduction to neurodiversity, focusing on the impact of neurodivergent conditions in the workplace and how we can all play a part in supporting neurodivergent individuals.
The module highlights both the strengths and challenges faced by neurodivergent thinkers and explores practical strategies to create environments where everyone can thrive.
By the end of the course, colleagues will:
- Be able to explain what neurodiversity is in basic terms
- Recall different neurodevelopmental conditions and draw comparisons between them
- Describe what neuro-inclusive language is and how to use it in the workplace
- Understand how reasonable adjustments can be made to support neurodivergent colleagues
Access the Neurodiversity eLearning course here.
We’re also proud to share some of the broader work we’re doing to support disability inclusion across our organisation:
Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) – We continue to uphold our Disability Confident Level 2 ‘Employer’ status and our Invisible Disabilities ‘Silver Standard’ recognition.
Accessible careers website – Through our partnership with Recite Me, visitors to our careers website can use a cloud-based assistive toolbar to personalise their experience. The tool enables users to customise content so they can read and understand it in the way that works best for them.
Learning British Sign Language – In April, we teamed up with Gloucestershire Deaf Association (GDA) and Zebra Access to host a colleague sign language session, exploring communication barriers and learning key signs. For those who want to build on these skills, a British Sign Language course is available on i.Learn (search “sign language”).
Wellbeing Passport – Colleagues can also access a Wellbeing Passport to support conversations about disabilities or health conditions in the workplace. The passport helps:
- Facilitate open discussions about workplace adjustments
- Record agreed adjustments and supportive measures
- Provide continuity when a colleague changes line manager
It’s especially valuable in helping to discuss and support less visible disabilities or health conditions, including mental health.
This Purple Tuesday, we celebrate the progress we’ve made and reaffirm our commitment to making our workplace truly inclusive for everyone. 💜
