As Black History Month draws to a close, the Culture & Belief team would like to thank everyone who joined us in recognising this year’s theme: “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.”
Throughout October, we’ve honoured the achievements and resilience of Black individuals who have shaped our society and reflected on how their legacy continues to inspire progress today. From wearing red in solidarity with Show Racism the Red Card, to exploring powerful stories, books, and films that amplify Black voices, your engagement has sparked meaningful conversations and inspired action.
But our work doesn’t stop here.
The Culture & Belief team are committed to recognising key cultural and religious moments throughout the year, while also working behind the scenes to review data and insights that help us better understand the diversity of our workplace. This will help us identify meaningful ways to foster a more inclusive culture where everyone feels seen, heard and valued at work.
By combining insights with lived experiences, we’re shaping the future of inclusion at The Midcounties Co-operative and we’re proud to be leading the way.

“I feel passionately about working alongside colleagues who bring their unique and diverse experiences to work. These differences enrich our culture, spark innovation, and help us grow together.”
— Chantal Davis, Head of People Development
“Real change doesn’t happen by watching from the sidelines, it takes action. That’s why I joined the Inclusion Allies, to help build a more inclusive culture where colleagues don’t just fit in, they truly belong. I’m proud to be leading the Culture & Belief team and driving that change forward, one step at a time”
— Jessica Harvey, Development Partner Leadership & Skills
“The reason I joined the group is due to a sense of belonging where others make you feel seen and accepted. It also provides emotional and social support where we can celebrate our differences together and share our experiences to help us when facing challenges.”
— Soniya Ali, Resourcing Attraction Lead
