Learning at Work Week continues and today we showcase the different ways we’ve supported colleagues to learn at work and progress their learning & development. Plus, we look forward to the many development opportunities coming up!
Learning Opportunities at Midcounties
As the world of work changes and evolves, there’s a new sense of the importance of refreshing and developing our skills, knowledge and behaviours.
Over the past year, the Learning and Development team have supported colleagues across all trading groups to renew their current knowledge, as well as helping them to learn something new that will help them at work.
Have a look below at some of our successes!
Digital onboarding programme
A new, digital on-boarding programme was launched to improve our colleague induction experience.
The new on-boarding journey has different touchpoints, including a journal for the colleague to work through as part of their induction, giving them the opportunity to dip in and out of the modules to suit their needs as they begin their career with us.
Talking points and Manager specific elements have also been built-in.

This supported all our nurseries to maintain their Millie’s Mark accreditation, with 100% of our nursery colleagues holding a current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Take the LEAP!
The LEAP programme was launched in Food, with 11 colleagues embarking on Retail Team Leading and 22 colleagues enrolling onto Retail Management programmes, which will help them leap into a brighter future and develop their careers.
Senior programmes
We’ve continued our investment in our Society leaders, with our Manager’s Skills and Knowledge Series and Senior Leaders Programmes.
Interview Ready
A new module was created on i.Learn to help our colleagues “Be Interview Ready”.

Look out for our One Stop Shop for compliance modules coming soon!
Following feedback from colleagues around how difficult it was to keep track of which courses needed to be completed and when a new simplified compliance learning programme is on its way! The new One Stop Shop will consist of 1 module, which contains 5 topics, each 8 minutes long. The module is completed once a year and the amount of training you complete is dependent on your existing level of knowledge, making your training more tailored to you!
LEAP programmes are being launched in Childcare and Travel this year and there will be further LEAP cohorts in Food, so if you feel you would like to progress towards your next step within the Society, arrange a Career Check-in with your manager to discuss your career opportunities.
