Supporting Colleagues to Succeed
Performance management is an ongoing process that sets expectations, tracks progress, provides feedback, and supports development. The goal? Help colleagues grow, do their best work, and get meaningful recognition.
This process is brought to life through the elements shown below:

What are check-ins?
Regular one-to-one conversations with your manager focused on performance, wellbeing, and development. They’re about looking forward: planning for growth and success, not just reviewing the past.
Why They Matter
Check-ins ensure:
-
You understand your role and have what you need to succeed
-
Fair accountability and support are in place
-
We deliver great services, meet strategic goals, and build a culture of excellence
They also helps us:
-
Spot and grow talent
-
Address challenges early
-
Keep everyone aligned with our purpose and values
Your Role
Check-ins are a shared responsibility, either you or your manager can initiate. They work best when you take ownership of your performance and development, including your Personal Development Plan (PDP)
Tips to make the most of your check-in:
-
Book it: Don’t wait, schedule time
-
Review expectations: Check Our Co-operative Frameworks
-
Come prepared: Reflect on progress and challenges
-
Set the agenda: Goals, feedback, wellbeing, PDP updates
-
Be open: Share ideas, ask questions, and listen actively
-
Own your development: Bring suggestions for growth and learning
Types of Check-ins
