Don’t post comments about people or work when you are angry, frustrated or have been consuming alcohol

Remember that even though you are acting in your own personal capacity, you are on show to your friends and contacts and possibly our customers

Remember that you are personally responsible for the content you publish on any form of social media

We encourage free speech but never speech that refers to content that promotes violence or hatred against individuals or groups based on certain attributes, such as race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age or sexual orientation

Could your comment be potentially damaging? Don’t post comments that amount to harassment, are abusive, hateful, defamatory or capable of damaging the reputation of a person or organisation

Never give out personal details such as home address and tel numbers (yours or anyone else’s)

Don’t ever reveal confidential information about Midcounties such as trading figures/passwords or anything that may compromise the safety of our premises or the people in them

You are allowed to say you work for Midcounties, and you can discuss Midcounties, but always make clear that the views you express are personal and not those of Midcounties if making posts about any work related business activity

If you work in one of the Society’s nursery settings - Be aware of safeguarding issues, as social media sites are often misused by offenders. Safeguarding is everyone’s business – if you have any concerns about site users, you have a responsibility to report these to your manager

We would encourage you to post photos of any fundraising or in-store events but please be mindful when posting photos that they do not breach any of the above guidelines
Alongside these guidelines, the Society has a Use of Social Networks Policy which colleagues should also read and understand, this can be found here (link to policy above).
We would remind all colleagues that where inappropriate comments and posts are made on social media sites relating to colleagues or the Society, these may be used by the Society in investigations and disciplinary cases, and where action is taken this could lead to dismissal.
If you have any concerns about site users, you have a responsibility to report these to your manager.
