Last week saw our Young Co-operators Network (YCN) members attend the second National Youth Summit in Birmingham hosted by Co-op's UK. Providing an opportunity for everyone in attendance to learn about co-operatives and explore radical solutions to the issues impacting young people, hear our colleague’s thoughts on a fantastic day!
So what happened on the day...
With inspirational speakers including an in-depth look at the future of AI, hands-on sustainable fashion workshops, social media training and more – the day was jam-packed with learning opportunities!
This year, YCN Co-ordinator Ayesha Di’Angelo sat on the final question time panel alongside other inspirational co-operators to discuss the importance of young people getting involved with making decisions and how we can encourage others to get engaged with the movement!

Ryan Bird - YCN Member
"This was my first face-to-face event with the Co-op's UK and I was blown away by the positivity and creativity of every single young person in that room.
All of them had a genuine desire to work together to make this world a better place. It’s impossible not to feel inspired by that!"
Amina Imran - YCN Member & Colleague
"Attending the Youth Summit was a real eye-opening experience! Since I’ve only been at Midcounties for a year, it was a great opportunity to learn more about the benefits of being part of a co-operative, as well as how such a wide range of sectors are able to take advantage of this business model.
We really need to make more of a song and dance about what we have to offer as a Society… our ethical values and member-focused system can really change the world!"
