With all of our nurseries now open, the Childcare Group held their first Open day since January on Saturday with record-breaking results. The Group have had to do things a little differently in the wake of coronavirus and have been conducting tours virtually since April but still recognised the importance of allowing families the opportunities inside the doors of the nurseries. Keeping colleagues and families safe was firmly on the agenda for the day and it was meticulously organised to enable social distancing of families with pre-arranged time slots and PPE for all, followed by a thorough clean of the building and resources.
Welcoming our families back
Promotion of the open day started in early August and drove over 1,000 families to pre-book their slot at one of the 45 nurseries, a 55% increase in bookings usually made ahead of an open day! Set up for a fantastic day, childcare colleagues arrived at their nursery on Saturday; bright and breezy, full of enthusiasm and ready to help showcase their nurseries and secure bookings.
Welcoming our families and communicating via Microsoft Teams chat
The day was a huge success with lots of activity driven through a Microsoft Teams chat, which was set up specifically for the day. With plenty of messages as 781 families came through the doors! Colleagues converted 552 of those into bookings, from behind face masks, securing 319 new full-time places and moved the Childcare Group occupancy from a forecasted 63% to 70% in January!
To provide some context on what an achievement this is, especially during this time of uncertainty, in January we had 432 families through our doors resulting in 121 full-time places secured. Well done!
A few of our nursery open days at Newbiggin, Maida Vale and Sutton
Well done to our colleagues!
We had some truly outstanding performances on the day with prizes of pizzas, visits and training given out as the bookings rolled in. 7 nurseries converted every family that walked through their doors and Maida Vale Nursery secured the most bookings of the day with 24.9 full-time bookings at 5 days a week, an astounding achievement. Nursery Manager, Mina and her team have won a visit from our Group CEO, Phil Ponsonby in the not so distant future, so he can find out just how they do it!
