Appointment of OurCoop Society Secretary

Dear colleague,

I am pleased to share the news that Ian Adderley will be joining the Society as our new Society Secretary.

Ian’s appointment follows a full interview process overseen by our Society Presidents, Richard Bickle and Irene Kirkman, together with myself, and supported by the Society’s People Team.

Ian is a qualified Secretary with a background in law, currently working at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), where he leads the team responsible for registering mutual and co-operative societies. He is also active within the co-operative movement and is currently a Trustee at both the Co-operative Heritage Trust and the UK Society for Co-operative Studies.

Ian will join the Society on Monday 18 May and is looking forward to being in post ahead of the Society’s first Annual Members’ Meeting which will take place later that week.

Interim arrangements

As confirmed last month, Andy Seddon, Society Secretary, will be leaving the Society to take on a new challenge at Coventry Building Society. 

Andy’s last day with the Society will be Monday 23 March. From that date Simon Plunkett, Deputy Secretary, will step into the role of Acting Society Secretary until Ian joins and will lead the Secretariat team during this interim period.

The Board of Directors recognises that this is a time of continued transition for our new Society. If you have any questions about this update, please don’t hesitate to contact Andy, Simon or your line manager.
