Bank Holidays Update

As you will be aware our holiday year runs from 1st April to 31st March and colleagues are entitled to their usual annual leave entitlement dependant on length of service and the 8 statutory bank holidays.
Due to the date, Good Friday falls in 2024 it means there is an additional bank holiday this year to account for and there will be one less bank holiday in the 2024/25 year.
Rather than amending annual leave entitlements, it has been agreed that the entitlements for this year and next year will remain the same, so this means next year you will receive an annual leave balance including 8 bank holidays despite there only being 7 in the year.
This also means that there is one additional bank holiday this year that colleagues won’t receive additional entitlement for and therefore colleagues have the following options should they wish to request this day off as annual leave, or their workplace is closed
-
You utilise the annual leave you have available in this year’s balance
-
You take the day off but have it as unpaid or utilise TOIL if you have it available
-
Be given the option of bringing forward a day’s annual leave from your 2024/25 balance
If you would be interested in option 3, a process will be created through Service Now and available in January 2024 so that this can be captured and actioned by the Payroll team.
