As Black History Month 2024 comes to a close, Izzy Quaynor from the Inclusion Allies Network looks back at how you celebrated, shares a video of colleagues talking about what the month means to them and announces the winners of our colleague competition.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
The theme for Black History Month this year is Reclaiming Narratives. To give some of our remarkable colleagues the chance to express their feelings about being Black and the importance of Black History Month in their own words, we created this short video. Have a watch!
How we celebrated
It’s been an amazing month full of tasty Caribbean and African inspired meals served up at The Orangery in Warwick HQ, including jerk chicken, Jamaican patties and an African curry washed down with some tasty ginger beer.

Fiery Ginger Beer!
We also heard from our special guest speaker Lyndon Campbell, Head of Diversity at HomeServe, about how he has created an incredible professional career, and he provided plenty of inspiration and advice to our colleagues. You can watch the video below.
In case you missed it in my first article about Black History Month, we created this short slideshow containing key facts about Black history and some inspiring stories. Take a look if you haven’t already.

Hear what one of our colleague winners thought!
"I really enjoyed reading the article for Black History Month, learning many new fascinating facts that I wasn’t aware of, and also viewing the video links of some of today’s prominent figures sharing their own stories and experiences through their own eyes, so I decided to test my knowledge out. I was so lucky to win one of these lovely hamper prizes. Packed with lots of Caribbean snacks and treats to share with my family and a beautiful set of African animal themed ceramic coasters to take pride of place in my home. Thank you!"
Kathy Lewis, one of our colleague winners - well done!
