Doing good together with every shop, hear from Food Marketing’s Maggie O’Sullivan, who tells us a little more about this year’s Christmas Food Bank appeal.
It's that time of the year again, and today I’m asking you a question, can we bank on you to support our 2023 Christmas Food Bank Appeal?
Picture this: 183 Your Co-op Food stores turning into hubs of generosity, with collection points ready to receive your contributions for local food bank partners. It's a beautiful sight, knowing that together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most during the festive season.
On-shelf signage – what food banks need the most
When you stroll through our stores, keep an eye out for the on-shelf signage. It'll guide you on the items most needed by your local food bank, making it super easy for you to pop a little extra something in your basket and drop it off in our food bank bin on your way out.
Reusable bags contribute to our Food Bank Fund
Now, let me throw it back to last Christmas. Thanks to the incredible support from our colleagues, members and customers, we raised over £20,000 for our local food bank partners. Imagine the impact! This year, we're aiming even higher, hoping to spread more joy and support during the festive period.
But wait, there's more! Your Co-op Food has a new initiative to encourage donations. We've launched a reusable shopping bag for 70p, and it's the only reusable bag available in our stores. The best part? Every penny of profit from the sale of these bags will be added to the fund and evenly distributed among a number of our local food bank partners in January when it's most needed. It's a simple way to make a lasting impact.
Doing good together collectively
Now, let's take a moment to appreciate the Food Bank Fund. Born at the start of the pandemic, this fund has been a beacon of hope, raising over £100,000 for our food bank partners across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Buckinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands, Wiltshire, and Worcestershire. A fantastic example of doing good together.
As we dive into the festive season, let's make it one to remember. Can we bank on you for support? Doing good together we can help to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most in our Christmas food bank appeal.
Wishing you all a Co-op-tastic holiday season!
