Championing local produce is what makes us unique as a Co-op and supporting our local suppliers is what we do with the Best of Our Counties. To celebrate them both, British Food Fortnight is here!
Running from 18th September – 3rd October 2021, the fortnight is a national celebration of British Food, created to highlight the health benefits & pleasures of eating quality, fresh seasonal and regional produce.
Supporting British Farmers 🐄
We support British farmers all year round and all Co-op branded fresh meat products and our milk is 100% British. We know food provenance really matters to our members and customers, so we ensure that British products are the ‘staples’ in our stores. From fresh beef, chicken, pork and sausages to the meat in our sandwiches, chilled pies and ready meals – we make it easy for them to choose British. Not only this but at Your Co-op we have a whole range dedicated to locally sourced food and drink.
Try our Best of Our Counties Produce
The Best of Our Counties offering is a unique range of locally and ethically sourced food and drink ranged in Your Co-op Food Market stores. All products within the range are sourced from across the Society’s trading region and neighbouring counties by working with farmers, growers and producers to craft exceptional products for its members and customers.
How are we involved?
To celebrate British Food Fortnight within the Society, selected Food markets and supermarkets will be running British Food Fortnight specific offers around our fantastic local producers.
Offers can be found on Todenham Manor burgers, Fatherson Bakery cakes, selected Best of our Counties Beers and Ciders and the newly launched Britpop Cider.
Please note, offers are valid between 18 September - 3 October (inclusive) and are available in selected stores only, subject to availability.
Blur Bassist, Alex James launches his 'BritPop Cider' in our stores!
In the run-up to British Food Fortnight, Alex James, (Blur Bassist and cheesemaker) joined Denyce, our instore chef in Chipping Norton for the launch of his cider. They made several tasty dishes including Sausage Casserole and Apple and Carrot Cider cake which all included his very own Britpop cider.
Alex mentioned: "For centuries, the French have been very clever at shouting about all the things they can do with grapes, whereas Britain has apples, and we don’t prize them enough. We grow hundreds of traditional British varieties here on the farm and have been experimenting with different cider recipes for years.
We launched Britpop last month at The Big Feastival and had such an amazing reception with the cider becoming the festival’s bestselling drink. It’s great to be able to finally launch it in Your Co-op Food Market stores as part of its Best of Our Counties range to really help hammer home how high-quality the produce grown in Britain really is.”
