Inclusion Digest: Pride, Islamic New Year & GRTHM

At OurCoop, inclusion means recognising and celebrating the diversity of our communities. Here are three important moments we’re marking this month: Pride Month, Islamic New Year & Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM).

Pride Month

We’re continuing Pride by sharing a social media carousel highlighting how recent many important LGBTQIA+ milestones are.

By pairing key moments in history with iconic gay anthems, we’re celebrating progress while recognising the importance of ongoing allyship.

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM)

Since 2008, GRTHM has celebrated the cultures, histories and contributions of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, while challenging stereotypes and promoting understanding.

OurCoop colleague, Matt Kirby, shared how celebrating GRTHM helps him connect with his roots and feel supported as awareness and respect continue to grow: “Recognising GRTHM allows me to connect with who I am and to learn more about my family’s roots. It gives me confidence knowing there are people who are now able to be educated to understand the way of life and who stand against discrimination.”
