This September marks 30 years of Fairtrade! The theme for this year's Fairtrade Fortnight is 'Be the Change,' encouraging everyone to make the switch to Fairtrade. Get involved by writing to your MP to advocate for change, and enter our colleague competition for a chance to win a Fairtrade hamper.
Aligned to our Sustainable Impact TRUST Pillar, Your Co-op is working alongside the Fairtrade Foundation and other co-operative societies to celebrate the huge difference Fairtrade makes worldwide.
We’ve supported Fairtrade since it launched 30 years ago, and it forms a key part of our Doing Good Together strategy. Every Fairtrade product we sell supports growers worldwide AND allows us to invest in local good causes.

What is Fairtrade?
For those that may be unaware, Fairtrade is an international movement that works with 1,900 producer organisations, across 68 developing countries, to ensure thousands of farmers and workers are paid fairly for the goods they produce, whilst also promoting sustainable food production and environmental protection.
Check out Fairtrade’s new look!
To kick things off, we're giving our members 30% off 30 different Fairtrade favourites when you scan your membership card in-store. From chocolate to coffee, bananas, flowers and more - scan, save and support Fairtrade!
You'll also notice that over 30 Co-op own brand Fairtrade products have had a makeover, with bold packaging encouraging customers to ‘Choose Change’.
During the fortnight, we’ll also have offers on Fairtrade products across the store and Utilities will be promoting the Fairphone.

Two ways to celebrate 30 years of Fairtrade
1. Hear from a Fairtrade Champion! Join us online on Thursday 19th September at 6pm as we host Julia Farrell, Chair of Wolverhampton City Fairtrade Partnership. As well as continuing to celebrate Fairtrade’s anniversary, Julia will tell us about how Wolverhampton will be celebrating its 21st year of Fairtrade City status in 2025 and discuss how your town or city can become a certified community too.
2. Be the change! We need our colleagues and members to speak up, and urge their newly elected MPs to make the ‘Be The Change’ pledge. This calls on MPs to commit to supporting trade and development policies that will help build a fairer future for people across the world.
