It's Mental Health Awareness Week and to raise awareness about this important issue, we’re are asking all colleagues to help us reach 2,500 miles together! Today’s callout is for you to take part between 8th -18th May and log your miles so we can donate £2,500 to the Mind charity. 🏃♀️
Raising money for the Mind Charity
In order to reach 2,500 miles together, we need your help! Collectively if we can achieve this mileage, then the Society will donate £2,500 to the charity Mind. Helping to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone; you can contribute in various ways:
-
Walking
-
Running
-
Cycling
-
Rowing
-
Treadmill
-
Any other form of exercise which is recorded!
Remember it doesn’t matter whether you do 1 or 10 miles across the week, it all adds up and improves your Mental Health! 😊
Collectively we have now achieved our target mileage, thank you to all the colleagues who took part and logged their miles! 😊

Send us your pictures 📷
While doing it, why not send in your pictures? We want to share all your creative ways of being active, whether that is fancy dress or just plain exercising joggers, nothing is too much!
Send them through to thumbsup@midcounties.coop and we will feature them next week during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Nature and our mental health – what’s the link? 🏞
Nature is so central to our psychological and emotional health, that it’s almost impossible to realise good mental health for all without a greater connection to the natural world. For most of human history, we have lived as part of nature. It is only in the last five generations that so many of us have lived and worked in an environment that is largely separated from nature. Did you know that a US study in the 1960s; found that patients who were treated in hospitals with a view of nature recovered faster, showing that a little science can unpack many extraordinary health benefits!
