Investments in Food Making an Impact
As I’ve spoken about in my previous blogs, we have been making significant investments in a number of Your Co-op Food stores by upgrading their refrigeration equipment. In doing this, we’re both reducing our environmental impact and also improving the look and feel of the stores to create a more appealing environment for our members, customers and colleagues.
I’m pleased to share that the recently upgraded stores have saw a 12.6% sales increase last week compared to last year. Impressively, the Croughton, Eastington and Brockworth stores have seen their sales increase by 37%, 29% and 28% respectively. (any supporting images) – See attached
Many thanks to the Property and Store Development Teams, who have been doing an excellent job in rolling out these upgrades to 21 stores so far this year.
Lanesfield Nursery Opens It’s Doors
Continuing on the theme of investments, back in February I spoke about my visit to a construction site in Lansefield, Wolverhampton. I’m delighted to announce that yesterday Lanesfield Nursery opened its doors, and I had the opportunity to visit the new nursery and the team on their big day.
We invested £409k in Lanesfield Nursery, which reflects our continued investment across the Society. The nursery has three rooms with a tailored environment for each age group to support their learning and development, while ensuring they have fun at the same time. It also has a large garden for outdoor play, a designated parents’ room to catch up with their child’s allocated key worker and on-site parking.
I’d like to congratulate everyone involved in making this happen from the support teams to the operational teams, the nursery looks fantastic and I’m sure it will have a positive impact in the local community.
Childcare Open Day on 9th September
Your Co-op Little Pioneers nurseries are also hosting their next Open Day on Saturday 9th September.
If you’re looking for a nursery for your little one, find your local nursery here and pay the team a visit on the Open Day to discover what makes our Little Pioneers nurseries so special.
And don’t forget, colleagues get 30% off their nursery fees.
Society Elections – Voting Opens on 4th September
On Monday voting will open for this year’s Society Elections, which is your opportunity to have your say in how the Society is run and vote for a brighter future.
This is your chance to vote for the Board of Directors and Membership Engagement Committee members you think will help create a more ethical and sustainable future for our members and communities.
Eligible colleagues and members will shortly receive their voting papers by post or email, and I’d like to encourage you all to take part and vote for your chosen candidates.
Financial Wellbeing App Launches
Finally, you will have seen that yesterday we launched Wagestream, a financial wellbeing app for our colleagues. As the strain of the cost of living persists nationwide, it’s more important than ever that we focus on financial wellbeing to support our colleagues. With Wagestream, we're providing all colleagues access to a suite of empowering tools to put you in control of your finances like never before.
Please do take the time to review this new benefit and share the news with your fellow colleagues.
