This series is all about community! From hearing stories from colleagues as well as people in wider society about their volunteering and community work, these podcasts are designed to make us re-examine our busy lives to think of ways we can give back to the world, and be part of a rewarding community in the process. Each episode has its own unique angle, this week is all about student volunteering.
'All about Community' Podcast Episode 1 - 'When you're at the top, keep climbing', Luke Hilton
In this episode, we hear from Luke Hilton, a policy advisor in the Civil Service. Luke discusses his experiences climbing Everest, previously being the President of UNICEF on Campus at the University of Birmingham and how to grasp the volunteering student community to develop yourself. He also discusses his background and how he stays motivated and guided in his life choices. Not one to miss!

What to expect from the upcoming 'All about Community' podcast series!
Student Volunteering Week takes place this week!
Alongside the theme of the first podcast, it's Student volunteering week.
The national celebration of volunteering for young people, it aims to get more students involved in volunteering as it can help improve student wellbeing, develop student employability and help contribute to the wider and local community. We have encouraged our partner schools to get involved and share with us the volunteering activities that they are doing.
Walsall Academy’s Eco Club is for green-fingered students determined to improve the school's environment. Miss Milkamanavicius at the academy mentioned “This all started with students from different year groups and each week more and more students come along. This has now gone from a group of volunteers to a school movement.”
