Little Pioneers inspires first-time author

On the Friday before Bank Holiday last May, little Luna brought home a rubber tiger from her nursery, Little Pioneers Warwick Gates. Her mum Carly didn’t notice until they got home. Luna was so attached to the little tiger that it slept in her bed each night and proceeded to take it on many adventures that weekend. It came to her swimming lesson, the chip shop, an ice cream shop and even visited one of Henry VIII’s castles with her and her family. 

When Carly returned the tiger to the nursery after the weekend and told Nursery Manager Leanne Potts about the toy’s adventures, Leanne thought it was hilarious. She said it was so funny that Carly should write a book about it.

Giving Carly the nudge she needed

Carly says, “I pondered this and thus the book ‘Luna and Tiger: A bank holiday weekend of adventures’ was made! Thanks to Leanne for the push – even though she said about making the book jokingly, it was the push I needed and what started my lovely children's author journey.”

And what a journey it has been! Since then, she has published a second book and received orders from as far afield as Germany, the USA and South Africa. She was also nominated for a Business Success Award this year for Product of the Year.

Little Pioneers colleagues to feature in Carly’s next book

At the end of August, Carly held a book signing at Warwick Gates Nursery, which the Nursery’s families loved, and she is currently working on a third book, this time based on her son’s experiences at Warwick Gates. She says, “This one will feature some of the Little Pioneers staff members. A big thank you to the staff at Little Pioneers Warwick Gates Nursery for being so loving and taking such good care of my children as if they were their own. My children both absolutely love going to Nursery!”
