This year has already been a year of change and we encourage everyone to get involved and help celebrate inclusion in all forms.
Taking place from 28th September – 4th October, the theme for National Inclusion Week is Each One, Reach One.
The week will help raise awareness on the opportunity that we all have to connect with someone else to help them understand the opportunity of inclusion. By taking personal responsibility to connect and inspire each other to make inclusion an everyday reality, we want you to celebrate inclusion with your colleagues.
What is Inclusive Working Environment?
An inclusive working environment is one in which everyone feels valued, that their contribution matters and they are able to perform to their potential, no matter what their background, identity or circumstances. Essentially it enables a diverse range of people to work together effectively.
How can I get involved?
We are asking colleagues to demonstrate an act of inclusion or explain what inclusion means to someone else during the week. This could be a phone or video call to another colleague to talk about what inclusion means to you, and how you are making inclusion real in your workplace. We would love you to share your inclusion stories in the usual way by commenting below.
What is happening within the Society?
We are starting this journey today with a group of colleagues from across the Society with Pete Westall, Chief Values Officer and Clare Moore, Chief HR Officer in attendance to look at how we can improve diversity and inclusion across our Society.
So watch out for updates from this meeting soon!
So simply it is about a person reaching out to another person: Each One, Reach One
