Welcome to November’s update from the People Development team. This month, Claire McCarthy, Development Partner – Career and Talent, tells us all about the Society’s new Onboarding Module!
Joining a new organisation can be an exciting but nerve-wracking time for anyone. At The Midcounties Co-operative, we strive to ensure that our new colleagues have a fantastic start and feel truly welcomed to our Society.
Following a recent review, we are pleased to share we have updated our Society Onboarding module and the new version is being launched on Monday 18th November!

During the review process, as well as updating the content, we have also taken on board the feedback we received and have made the following improvements:
-
We have included recommended timeframes on each section's tile, which will help you better understand when each section should be completed. Remember, the Onboarding Journey does not have to be finished all at once. It is designed to be spread out over several weeks and should be completed by the end of your probationary period.
-
We have simplified the module, removing additional documents and links under each section to make it clear what needs to be completed for each section.
-
As the Compliance modules and your Local Induction will be completed from Day 1 alongside your Onboarding Journey, we have removed these tiles from the module. Any Compliance modules you need to complete will show on your Dashboard, along with any mandatory modules from your Trading area.

As a reminder, the Onboarding Journey is an introduction to The Midcounties Co-operative to give colleagues an insight into the Society, who we are, the importance of membership, the benefits and support available to you, and how you can develop personally and professionally. Your induction to your role and trading area will be completed in your workplace with your Line Manager and colleagues.
*Note for Managers – we will be turning off enrolments for the old onboarding journey on Monday 11th November. All new starters during this time will be enrolled onto the new module from 18th November.
The completion data from the old module will be transferred to the new module to avoid duplication.
Don’t forget, we have a toolkit for Managers to help you prepare for your new colleague. You can access the toolkit here!
Although this onboarding module is for new colleagues joining the Society, every colleague is able to access this module from their dashboard – why not take a look and refresh yourself on who we are and the benefits of working for Your Co-op!
