Office 365 is evolving, from sharing your files via OneDrive to managing it all in Microsoft Teams, your personal workspace will become your one-stop-shop.
That’s why from 28th July, all desktop and laptop users will move away from using Microsoft Skype. Having successfully moved our colleagues over to Microsoft Teams, let’s show you how to sign out of Skype by following this easy to use guide here.
What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams enables any colleague to get in touch with fellow colleagues at any time and in any place. It acts as your complete communication tool that incorporates a chat facility, video and audio conferencing. For more information on Microsoft Teams see here.
When will the Microsoft Skype switch off happen?
The countdown to the Microsoft Skype switch off has already commenced and on 28th of July 2020 Skype will no longer be available.
How can I change any of my existing meetings in Microsoft Skype?
You will need to review any future meetings you have scheduled to be held through Microsoft Skype and convert them to ‘Teams meetings’.
This can be completed in two ways:
1) You can raise a request in ServiceNow, and CIT will convert your future meeting for you.
This can take up to 3 days to take effect from raising the request, so please consider this when asking for a request.
- Raise your request under the service category:
Software >Other Software Request. In the text box please write ‘Skype Meeting Migration’
2) You can manually change your meetings yourself by cancelling them and re-schedule them with Microsoft Teams.
When re-scheduling your meetings to be held via Microsoft Teams, you can either create the calendar invite through the Outlook calendar using the same method as Microsoft Skype by clicking the ‘Teams Meeting’ button.
You can also schedule a Teams meeting by using the calendar when in Teams as it is linked to your calendar in Outlook.
