As we come to the end of the year, today we give a big well done and congratulations to our latest batch of apprentices that have graduated from across the Society!
Being the next generation of leaders, our apprentices are at the forefront of our trading areas, learning and influencing our future decisions.
Despite the challenges faced over the last few months and challenging situations, the Society has worked tirelessly with our training providers to ensure that our apprentices were supported individually, taking into account any personal circumstances.
We are pleased to announce that nine apprentices have now completed their apprenticeships from across Childcare, Travel and Food!
Let’s hear what some of our new graduates had to say about it…
Chloe Mallett, Thetford Travel, Norfolk Branch
Chloe Mallett completed Level 3 Travel Consultant Apprenticeship from Thetford, Norfolk branch
Completing the NVQ has given me a massive boost of confidence and shown me that I need to believe in myself a bit more. It was hard during lockdown as I worked from home and as we were looking after 4 branches, it didn't give me much spare time but I dedicated my days off to completing the NVQ and although I doubted myself all of the time, I am over the moon with my results! I am very proud of myself for completing it and look forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
Thomas Umney, Bampton Food Store
Thomas Umney completed Level 4 Retail Manager from Bampton Food Store
The apprenticeship really helped me build a foundation of knowledge on what I already knew but gave me the confidence to showcase that knowledge to other colleagues and peers.
It has helped me in my role by making me more confident and using the skills I have gained to pass on to other aspiring leaders
Studying during the pandemic was hard at first to the point where we postponed my original exam dates because there was too much going on in-store at the time.
Once it settled down earlier in the summer months, we rebooked my exams and did them at home remotely and have one to one sessions with my tutor on Teams. Teams has been an invaluable resource during the pandemic.
Rebecca Spicer, Sutton Nursery, Childcare
Rebecca Spicer completed Level 2 Children & Young People’s Workforce from Sutton Nursery (written by Denisa Kolkova, Nursery Manager)
Rebecca felt HAWK were very supportive through the duration of the course. She said she leant how to manage her timekeeping better and got a greater and deeper insight into children’s development matters.
Rebecca had enough support during Coronavirus and being on furlough has given her more time to complete some of her work and focus on studies.
Jennifer Webb, Sutton Nursery, Childcare
Jennifer Webb completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Sutton Nursery (written by Denisa Kolkova, Nursery Manager)
Jenny has leant why there are certain policies in place and how she can support children’ development. Having good support and thoroughly enjoyed her course, she would recommend HAWK as a training provider.
Jenny has also won the Apprentice of the Year as the Society has recognised her hard work and many parents and colleagues were nominating her.
Georgina James, Chichester Nursery, Childcare
Georgina James completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Chichester Nursery
Coming from no childcare background or qualifications, I found going straight into working and doing my apprenticeship course very nerve-racking. However, with support from the staff at the nursery and my tutor I started to enjoy learning alongside working as I was learning new things within my course work that I would implement within the room. I had regular contact with my tutor who was amazing and supported me so well with my course work always answering my messages if I was struggling on a question and guiding me.
Studying and working through coronavirus was hard as my tutor was furloughed which caused a small disruption while doing my work, but I was still able to complete work and send it onto other tutors to mark and receive feedback. Furthermore being able to ask them questions if I was struggling, but mainly my managers and room leader helped me through this time as I could go to them and ask them about a question that I was stuck on. I am proud of myself for achieving this Level 3 qualification after having no qualifications before and feel very grateful that I had this opportunity.
Charlotte Scott, Sussex Nursery, Childcare
Charlotte Scott completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Sussex Nursery
I have really enjoyed doing my level 3 apprenticeship in childcare whilst working for the Co-operative Childcare. I have enjoyed learning about different areas of my job when doing my coursework and being able to work in my room whilst doing this has been a treat! I’m now really happy I am able to now use my level 3 within my job, it’s an amazing achievement.
Joanna Stanley, Sutton Nursery, Childcare
Joanna Stanley completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Sutton Nursery
Joanna has enjoyed her course especially getting to know more childcare theories and how they are linked with nursery policies and procedures. She mentioned that lockdown has given her more time to study and her studies have helped her through lockdown with something to concentrate on.
Amratben Patel, Maida Vale Nursery, Childcare
Amratben Patel completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Maida Vale Nursery (written by Mina Patel, Senior Nursery Manager)
Amrat started her level 3 in 2019 and worked extremely hard to finish it. Amrat is a mother of 2 teenagers and dedicated a lot of her time to their education and then focused on hers! Amrat would complete work during breaks and also complete her off the job learning at work so well, also helping others in their apprenticeships. Amrat consistently researched and asked questions to get a wide range of knowledge in childcare. Amrat has gained lots of knowledge, which she applies at work and this is evident through the quality of her work.
Aimee Townley, Carterton Nursery, Childcare
Aimee Townley completed Level 3 Early Years Educator from Carterton Nursery
Through Covid-19 it was hard. I have managed my time between home and study but with the support and motivation of my tutor and colleagues, I have achieved my goal. The course has made me more of an independent learner and given me the tools to do my job with more confidence.
