As it continues to be one of the warmest Summers on record, again there is an amber alert from the Met Office on the hot weather, so please stay safe and follow trading area guidance. I know that the warmer weather makes working conditions difficult for many of you across the Society, so I am grateful for your patience and commitment at this time. You can find further information and tips on staying cool here.
Global Innovation Coop Summit – our winners
It was great to be a judge on the Global Innovation Coop Summit panel last week. I saw some fantastic young colleagues present on the day with a range of interesting ideas and thank all the colleagues and candidates who joined in. They showed great professionalism, passion and research while being out of their comfort zones. As mentioned before, the Summit next month in Paris provides a great networking opportunity for our winners with a unique opportunity for continual development and career progression.
Judges - Kathryn Lyddon (Head of Property), me, Imogen Head (Insight Analyst), Shannon (one of the colleague entries), Helen James(Head of Member Reward Innovation), Sarah Yates (Head of Trading), Pete Westall (Chief Values Officer) & Ayesha Di’Angelo – Young Co-operators Network Co-ordinator (taking the picture!)
A big well done to our winners:
-
Emily Sandilands, Growth and Acquisitions Manager - Childcare
-
Shannon Williams, Digital Marketing Executive - Utilities
-
Ben Johnson, Senior Campaigns Manager - Utilities
Runners up:
-
Conor O’Neil, Community Funding Placement - Community
-
Paran Todd, Customer Service Assistant, Cleobury Mortimer Food Store
-
Amelia Crews, Energy Innovation Co-ordinator – Utilities
Winner Emily also shared this message,
“I was motivated to enter the competition as it was a great opportunity to stretch myself, develop my presentation skills, learn more about another business area and network with other colleagues.
I really enjoyed exploring an idea that I had a personal interest in and something totally different to my day job. I was thrilled the dragons liked the idea and I’m grateful for the experience; I would recommend it to anyone thinking about entering next year. Go for it!”
I look forward to joining our winners next month when I will be speaking at the Summit. Watch this space and look out for the full update later this month on Colleagues Connect.
Happy International Youth Day!
Banbury Youth Homelessness Project (BYHP) visit
Last week on my charity partner visits, I joined Susan Barguss, Interim Head of HR visiting Banbury Regional Community Partner, Banbury Youth Homelessness Project (BYHP).
It was great to hear about all the incredible work that the charity does in supporting young people affected by homelessness and how our Regional Community has been involved along the way. It was fascinating to meet the people who actually make it work as they are integral to the support they provide. To watch the update, see below.
