How does community power help?

Our community power campaign brings together customers and community generators to help build an even stronger sustainable world, to fund more renewable energy projects and, for example, helping vulnerable members of the community or running education programmes for kids.

Whether it’s putting solar panels on neighbourhood rooftops, adding wind turbines to local farmland or harnessing power from the local river, these projects are owned and run by the communities they power.  We also pay the generators a fair price for their electricity and their profits go towards local initiatives.

Our partnership with Octopus Energy (announced in August 2019) brings together two businesses committed to fair pricing, simplicity and excellent customer service. We have circa 160,000 customers on the Co-op Energy brand today and are looking to grow this further through the partnership.  Together we will make an even bigger difference to our local communities and continue to work in support of good causes such as climate change.
