Protecting our Local Communities with Sunday Trading
Helping our communities and upholding our values will always be top of our agenda at Midcounties. As we have seen over the last few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pulling together to support our communities ensures we are there for our members, colleagues and customers.
Following reports that the government is considering a suspension of the current Sunday trading laws, which prevent larger stores opening longer than six hours on a Sunday, our Group CEO, Phil Ponsonby has written to Business Secretary, Alok Sharma to warn that suspending the laws would have a disproportionately damaging impact on more remote and deprived communities across the UK.

Colleague ‘Thank You Vouchers’
As stated previously in our colleague update here, the Board agreed that the Colleague ‘Thank You Vouchers’ will be distributed to eligible colleagues in June this year, rather than the normal late November date.
So, from 22nd June, Colleague ‘Thank you vouchers’ will be sent out with a total pay-out value of nearly £300,000. This is our way of saying thank you to you for all the hard work that has been put in over the last year, and especially over the recent months, which have been a challenging time for us all, adapting to new ways of working and making changes to our everyday lives.
'Thank You vouchers' represent your share of the profits from last year, for more information and eligibility please see here. Vouchers will be delivered in the post and so look out for them.
Don’t forget that last year’s ‘Thank you Vouchers’ (which were issued in November 2019) are still eligible to use until 31st August.
