The Royal British Legion is one of our main charity partners at Midcounties, alongside the focus on our Regional Community Areas and Keeping it Local Fundraising Partners. We as a Society, are proud to support the annual poppy appeal which opens today for fundraising.
How do we support the Royal British Legion?
Our Food Markets and Supermarkets can offer local Royal British Legion collectors’ slots in-store to collect during the campaign duration of 27th October to 13th November. Please help and support any Royal British Legion collectors if they are in your stores/branches.
How were we involved at the time?
At the time of World War I & II, there were a number of Co-operative Societies operating across our trading areas that had colleagues who went to the front and did not come back.
These were people like us, working in our stores and sites, for families and loved ones while serving the country bravely.
To commemorate, many of our trading areas will put up displays in their windows and will be laying wreaths at local war memorials.

Wear your poppy with pride and take part
We encourage you to wear your poppy with pride throughout the campaign by visiting the Royal British Legion’s poppy shop to purchase poppy pins, badges and broaches along with a wide range of other poppy-related items, see here for more information.
Most importantly, you can take part by paying tribute to the men and women who have served and sacrificed their lives in the World Wars and to those defending our nation today. To find out more information about the work of the Royal British Legion click here.
