As you will be aware, across the UK, the rollout of vaccines has commenced at a great pace with over 27 million people now receiving their first dose.
Clearly, it is desirable to have as many people vaccinated against Covid-19 as possible as it is a key part of helping us all return to normal activities, reopening the economy, seeing family and friends, getting a social life back and even a well-deserved holiday.
What is the Government's plan for rolling out the vaccine?
The Government has outlined its plan for the vaccination of the UK population, which is based on targeting priority groups first, through to all adults being vaccinated by the autumn.
The government has given assurances that there is sufficient vaccine for the UK population and that people should take up the vaccine when they are advised to do so.
-
By mid-February: Offer the vaccine to the top four priority groups (around 15 million people in the UK), including residents in care homes for older adults and their carers, over 80s and frontline health and social care workers, over 75s, over 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.
-
By mid-April: Offer the vaccine to the remaining priority groups (around 17 million people in the UK), including the over 50s, over 60s and those younger people who are under 65 but at risk.
-
By autumn: Offer the vaccine to all remaining adults in the UK by the autumn, (another 21 million people).
Protect Yourself and Others
Being vaccinated will not only help to protect yourself against COVID-19, but will also help protect your family, friends, and your colleagues. As the vaccine program progresses it will however still be essential for colleagues to follow the current guidance and measures that are in place, such as handwashing, social distancing and the use of PPE to ensure that we maintain the safest possible environment for our customers and colleagues and help reduce transmission of the virus to unvaccinated people.
