Overview
The Society is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment. This policy outlines the welfare facilities that the Society will provide.
Policy
The Board of Directors and the Chief Executive of the Society are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment, and this extends to the provision and maintenance of suitable and sufficient rest facilities. In order to meet their obligations, the Society will provide the following.
Sanitary Convenience
Sanitary conveniences, sufficient and suitable for the persons employed on the premises, will be provided. They will be maintained in serviceable condition, regularly cleaned and be equipped with sufficient lighting and ventilation.
Washing Facilities
Washing facilities suitable and adequate for colleagues and others employed on the premises will be provided. A supply of clean, running, hot, cold or warm water as well as soap and clean towels or other suitable means of cleaning and drying will be available. These facilities will be conveniently situated, accessible and kept in a clean and orderly condition.
Drinking Facilities
An adequate supply of wholesome drinking water will be provided for all colleagues.
Clothes Changing Facilities
Changing facilities will be made available for colleagues who change into special work clothing, where they remove more than outer clothing and / or where it is necessary to prevent workers’ own clothing being contaminated by harmful substances. The privacy of users of this facility will be ensured.
Rest Facilities
Where rest facilities are provided, arrangements are in place to ensure such areas are smoke free in line with the Smoke Free Workplace Regulations.
Rest areas/ rooms are provided in accordance with the Workplace Regulations 1992 (25.2) and should be large enough, and have sufficient seats and tables for the numbers of colleagues likely to use them, at one time.
