Your Community Sites

Your Community Sites are those that sit outside our Regional Community programme and are made up of over 170 Food, Childcare & Travel sites which are located from Newcastle to Southampton and most areas in-between!  Previously these sites have supported National charities MIND and Seaful but are now concentrating on giving money raised back to their local community

September 2023 – May 2024 fundraising for  ‘What if I needed……First Aid Skills’ Primary School Resource

To ensure that money raised by the sites goes back to the areas locally, each site has been partnered with their closest Primary School. Since September 2023 they have raised over £10K to provide a book called ‘What If….. I needed First Aid Skills’ featuring Ruffle The Train Dog. The book is written by Rachel Greaves, a former Primary School Teacher in association with Community Heartbeat Trust (our defibrillator charity partner) and in partnership with Your Coop.

The book features various scenarios such as ‘ What if…….. I had a nosebleed ‘ or ‘What if ………… I got burnt’, it contains activities for the teachers to do with the students and there’s a line drawing resource pack for the students to colour in. To help the schools with extra resources, we also have a fantastic film shot at the train station where the Ruffles stories are set and shows the book scenario by scenario. This will make learning a lot more flexible for teachers. There is also a simple PowerPoint presentation available to introduce the book to an assembly or class.

School Resources for ‘What if I needed….. First Aid Skills’

May 2024 – May 2025 fundraising for local primary schools

Your Community Sites voted to keep the primary schools they gave ‘What If I Needed….. First Aid’ books to and to fundraise money for projects or items their local partner school needs (as well as developing and strengthening their partnership).

The schools have asked for a variety of different things from their school holiday clubs, plants for a sensory garden and books for a new library.
